A few years ago I was asked to start a program in the White Mountains to help support Home School families. I was so excited at the possibilities. My husband and I had the opportunity to home school with the support of a school and found that it made it much easier. I am now the director of Sequoia Home School Resourse Center (SHSRC)/ Arizona Distance Learning (AzDL) K-6 programs throughout the state, and work with Jr High and High School students in the White Mtn area. I love what I do and the people I work with! I have worked for Sequoia Schools for 10 years, and I am the very proud mother of 3 great kids and mother by marriage to one. Education has always been an important part of our family. Our oldest daughter is an English major and her husband is in his second year attending ASU's Law school. Our middle daughter is working on her business degree and will graduate by Christmas. She currently has a 4.0. Our youngest is in 8th grade, student body president, and will most likely be Valedictorian of his 8th grade graduating class. I love the adventure that is education. I love living my lifelong dream of being an Elementary Teacher! I was born and raised in Arizona. All of my family is here. I am a mommy to five beautiful children. Homeschooling has been a part of my life since I grew up observing my mom home school my brother. I have also the opportunity to homeschool some of my own children. My favorite teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Miss Lewis. She made me feel special. I knew she cared about ME. I will never forget her. I hope to create a lasting friendship with and have an impact on each and every one of my students. A child's education is our future. I love helping children succeed in gaining an education. I am currently a full time NPC student and will graduate with my degree in business by Christmas. I have a 4.0 grade point average and feel education is very important. I have danced for several years and now teach dance as well. My goal is to someday open my own small town bakery called "Short and Sweet" where everyone knows each other. The name is fun because I am only 4' 11''.
I am Kimberly Cruz, the newest Elementary Teacher with Sequoia Home School programs. I come to Sequoia with 2 years of professional teaching experience, I have lots of innovative ideas and I am not afraid to use them. I was born and raised in California and received my B.A in Social Work and my Teaching Credential from California State University, Sacramento. I relocated to Arizona in 2004 where I taught 3rd grade in a public school in the Valley area. I enjoy being a Mom of a 15 month old. In my free time you will probably find me on the soccer field. I value, honesty, integrity and hard work. I am dedicated to my students and their families. I would love to see them all succeed.
